A celebration in honor of longtime Meadville Community Soup Kitchen Director Bev Nutter was held on June 1, 2024. Bev has led the soup kitchen's operations since its' inception through the past four decades and for her volunteers it was a time to wish a well-deserved retirement to their colleague and friend. A crowded Kingsley Hall in the basement of Stone United Methodist Church held just a portion of the countless people that Bev has worked with throughout her time at the soup kitchen. Bev's family was seated with her at the head table as community members such as former Stone pastor Rev. Sarah Roncolato gave remarks. Several volunteers also spoke and shared memories of working in the soup kitchen throughout Bev's tenure.
Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church was represented by Mary Stierheim, Jim and Deb Bowen, Sally Frank and Jen Royer at the event. Deb Bowen is the soup kitchen volunteer coordinator for Trinity and always welcomes anyone who would like to come help on a monthly or as needed basis. Trinity provides volunteers to serve the soup kitchen every second Monday of the month from 10am-12:30pm.
